Keith Payne Products cut Custom Gaskets in SOLID Polyethylene;- LDPE (Low Density Polyethylene) and Polyethylene UHMW (Ultra High Molecular Weight) and also a large range of gaskets and components in Polyethylene Sponge.
LDPE LOW DENSITY POLYETHYLENE is a thermoplastic with outstanding resistance to inorganic chemicals and acids and alkalis. It is non-toxic and in the highest class of electrical insulation. Polyethylene is affected by concentrated solutions of oxidising acids such as, sulphuric and nitric acid at elevated temperatures, chlorinated hydrocarbons, petrol, mineral and vegetable oils and paraffin. The general condition is an opaque sheet. It has a melting point of 115C and a working temperature range of -30 to +50C.
UHMW HIGH MOLECULAR WEIGHT POLYETHYLENE is a thermoplastic with outstanding resistance to inorganic chemicals and acids and alkalis. It is non-toxic and in the highest class of electrical insulation. This grade exhibits a good combination of stiffness, toughness, mechanical damping ability with wear and abrasion resistance UHWP has a working temperature range of -100 to +80C
POLYPROPYLENE POLYPROP is a thermoplastic with good stiffness, surface hardness and abrasion resistance. It can be repeatedly sterilised in boiling water and if not subject to stress will operate @ 100 C, although it will suffer thermal degradation. POLYPROPYLENE is affected by concentrated solutions of oxidising agents, esters, ethers, hydrochloric, sulphuric and nitric acid, chlorinated hydrocarbons, petrol and paraffin.

Sponge gaskets can be manufactured in Alveolit® or Platazote® polyethylene foam.
ALVEOLIT® (ALVEO) is a Irradiation Crossed-linked Closed Cell Expanded Polyethylene foam that is available in different densities as 30kg/cm3, 50 and 70. It is WRAS approved. Alveolit® is stocked in charcoal grey and white and has a skin finish on both sides. Stock thickness;- 1mm, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12, 15, and 20.
Alveolit® Polyethylene foam has a fine regular closed cell structure that is soft and flexible. It has no odour and is inert to a wide range of chemicals. Gaskets cut in Alveolit® have low water absorption and excellent vapour permeability with good ozone and UV resistance.
Our range of Polyethylene closed cell sponge which is more rigid than the rubber sponges and foams is perfectly suited for many industrial and commercial applications; - Packaging, Shock absorbency, Thermal insulation, Kneeling pads and Buoyancy aids.
Polyethylene closed cell sponge is Chemical and grease resistant, Wear and tear resistant, impervious to Mildew, rot and Bacteria. It is light and flexible and has a temperature range of -60 to +90C.
Plastazote foam is Closed-cell polyethylene foam blown with nitrogen. In contrast to other foams, it is tough and flexible. If Plastazote foam is compressed, each nitrogen filled cell acts like a balloon and the foam returns back to its original shape.
We supply LD33, LD45 and LD60 Plastazote foam cut to shape or in sheet form in various thicknesses in black, white, PLASTAZOTE® is a registered trademark of Zotefoams plc. It is also available in “Conductive” form.
All of these grades can be supplied plain or with Pressure Sensitive Adhesive backing. The Pressure sensitive backing used can be from a range of adhesives; - Rubber Resin, Aqua- Acrylic and Acrylic with no carriers (straight coat) Tissue, Scrim or Polyester film. Adhesives can be High Grab, Semi peel and Low Initial tack. We stock many types and a large range available from 3M, 467 468, 950 9471 9485 etc.
The release paper can be thick enough to Kiss–Cut the gasket or part through the rubber and adhesive to leave the component on the roll for ease of assembly.
We can cut down to width all of our sponges and foams with adhesive backing in coil or straight strip form.
