We manufacture gaskets with only the highest quality Natural rubber.

Natural rubber is also called India rubber or Caoutchouc, and it consists of polymers of isoprene, with minor impurities of other organic compounds plus water. Malaysia is one of the leading producers of natural rubber. Forms of poly-isoprene that are used as natural rubbers are classified as elastomers. Currently, rubber is harvested mainly in the form of  latex from the para rubber tree or others. Isoprene, or 2-methyl-1, 3-butadiene, is a common organic compound with the formula CH2=C (CH3)-CH=CH2.

Temperature range   -20C/-40C (varies with grade) to 70C   Burning point is 180C.

Burning characteristics of Latex Natural Rubber;- Continuous burning with a distinctive smell of hair and organic matter with black fumes. The material melts after burning with a tacky residue.

Natural Latex rubber has very good abrasion resistance excellent elongation, high tensile and tear strength.  However its weathering properties are poor; - high temperatures, ozone and sunlight ageing makes it unsuitable for outdoor applications.

Pure Gum Rubber,Shot Blast RubberTan Para RubberPara-Natural Rubber are all high content latex rubber sheets and generally tan  in colour and have a low shore hardness of around 40 to 50 shore. Typical applications for these wear resistant rubbers are the lining of construction chutes, grit or shot blast cabinets, scraper and squeegee blades. It is also resistant to many acids.  Linatex® premium rubber is produced using a patented process and has a 95 % pure natural rubber content and is generally regarded as market leader in Latex rubber.

High quality natural rubber grades are manufactured to British Standard BS1154. BS1154 rubber has a high latex content with carbon black added. These grades are commonly requested by Government bodies, and for military applications.  Our stock range includes Z40 Z50 Z60 and Z70 grades from 1mm to 12mm in thickness.

A  High grade off white natural rubber is available to BS1154 Y40 Y50 and Y60

Some grades of Black latex rubber are specifically prepared for use as Bridge Bearings conforming to BS5400 part 9 and BS EN 1337/3 for good shear strength and abrasion resistance.

Black High Abrasion sheet is a blend of latex and SBR and generally harder than just latex sheet.  60° Shore is particularly suitable for applications such as snow plough rubbers, scraper blades, wipers and hard chute lining. These grades can be supplied with a heavy duty fabric backing.

SBR Styrene Butadiene Rubber is a replacement for natural rubber. It was originally developed prior to World War II in Germany however it was developed and extensively used by the Allied nations as most of the supply of Natural latex was in the hands of the Japanese.

Most Black commercial natural rubber sheeting is SBR.  It has good abrasion resistance and good aging stability when protected by additives. .

The styrene/butadiene ratio influences the properties of the polymer: with high styrene content, the rubbers are harder and less rubbery.

The more” Commercial” the sheeting the less styrene/butadiene content there is. Fillers such as carbon black and chalk are used. This reduces the tear and tensile strength however most gaskets can be manufactured successfully using these grades.

Burning Characteristics of SBR;- Burns continuously with minor crackling on flame with an unpleasant wax burning smell with white fumes. It is not easily extinguishable and leaves a non-tacky residue.

Natural Rubber Matting is again a commercial grade with SBR and fillers. There are many patterns, Fine and Flat Fluted, Penny and Checker plate.

Electrical Insulation Matting conforms to BS921, with a thickness of 6mm + Ribs 8-10mm (max 650 Volts AC)  Matting to BS EN 61111:2009.is thinner at 6mm (Max 450Volts AC)  Either can be supplied in cut shape or roll form.

White Food Safe Grade Natural Rubber (NR) Sheeting conforms to EU1935:2004 2023/26 & FDA CFR 177 Sub Part C 177.2600 It is available in 40 and 60 shore hardness.

Insertion rubber.   Polyester scrim or Cloth scrim can be added as an insertion for extra strength to most grades of Natural rubber.
